The August Taste of the Nation dinner raised more than $245,000 to benefit local hunger relief efforts through the Coalition for the Homeless and Second Harvest Food Bank, according to spokeswoman Krista Zilizi. That amount is Zilizi the event's highest gross to date and it sets a high bar for Taste of the Nation's 25th anniversary event next year. This year, I was in Colorado when the event occurred so my colleague Tod Caviness stepped in to cover for me. My favorite cocktail was the Orchard Manhattan at Marlow’s Tavern (again), and the “Make Your Own Mojito” setup from Straight Up Beverage Solutions was an interesting idea, even if the results didn’t quite warrant the novelty (or the wait)." Kudos to World Center Marriott chef Lindsay Vandertoorn whose Creekstone steak dish won the chef’s cookoff against Cask & Larder’s Jared Thate. Something to be said for home field advantage, it seems'
