Benny's Bloody Mary Beef Straw

Let the drinking begin.
I was recently introduced to Benny’s Bloody Mary Beef Straw, an edible straw made of 100 percent beef that has been seasoned and smoked. Crafted for Bloody Mary lovers it adds to what I call the bloody mary garnish: My personal relish tray. Benny’s Bloody Mary Beef Straw is not currently sold in Florida, however, Fort Lauderdale’s Crown Wine & Spirits has used the new product in gift baskets that included bloody Mary mixes.  You can check out Benny’s Bloody Mary Beef Straw on Facebook or the website bennysbloodymarybeefstraw.com. The Benny’s straw reminds me of skinny summer sausage. It’s a darn good idea — too bad no one in Central Florida has picked it up to sell. For years I have been waiting for Duda Farm Fresh Foods to release their swell Dandy Celery Straws, a naturally-grown vegetable stalk with a hollow core. Duda is hoping to initially market the straw to foodservice operations — resorts, bars, etc., to introduce the concept to the consumer. But with the success of Benny’s Bloody Mary Beef Straw perhaps it’s time to offer Dandy Celery Straw to consumers. The relish tray just keeps getting better.
